This can of skipjack tuna is a must-have in the pantry. It tastes great and is so versatile. Sea Tales suggests that tuna preserved in water, like this can, is best used in cold dishes like a tasty tuna crunch wrap. With no added salt, this can is the freshest flavour of tuna. Check out the Sea Tales website for more inspiration.

Sea Tales work with local fishing companies who live and fish in true harmony with nature. They only fish using pole-and-line, and their Foundation directly gives back to the communities that they supply from. This tuna is guaranteed to make you smile.

Pole-and-line!

Sea Tales ensures that all their tuna products are 100% pole-and-line caught. Because gear matters and pole-and-line caught fish means reducing bycatch, overfishing and plastic pollution. On top of that, this tuna fishery in Indonesia is Fair Trade certified. That guarantees that both the fishermen and factory workers are treated with respect, and have safe and fair working conditions.

Giving back Sea Tales Foundation

By purchasing this product, you help giving back to the coastal communities that supply your fish.

2018 marked the launch of the Sea Tales Foundation, running various projects around the world that contribute to small-scale fisheries and fish farms to help make them more sustainable. They want to ensure that the oceans remain a healthy source of food and income for all the people who depend on fishing as their livelihood: the fishers, the fishing communities, and their families. The Sea Tales Foundation is committed to keeping oceans healthy worldwide.

Pole-and-line

This fishing method provides the most selective targeting of tuna possible, with minimal bycatch of non-target fish and marine wildlife like dolphins, turtles and sharks. Pole-and-line fishing targets schools of tuna near the ocean surface, and therefore only needs to use short lengths of line on each pole, typically  5-10m.

Skipjack Tuna

Skipjack are generally smaller in size compared to other tuna species and also have shorter lifecycles, meaning they can start reproducing very early, after only one year. This has benefits for sustainability, and makes it one of the most abundant tuna species.
