WHITE TUNA IN JAR WITH OLIVE OIL (260g)

Frinsa

Frinsa's white tuna is caught one by one exclusively during the fishing season, which is famous in the north of Spain. This product is accompanied by an olive oil based covering liquid, that enhances the flavor of the product and improves it over time.

This product is made with pole and line tuna, removing the meat upon entering the factory and immediately packed in the cans. This method efficiently preserves the quality of the meat, before it lands on your plate.

Frinsa only uses tuna caught from pole-and-line or trolling vessels, which supports their sustainability efforts as well as their initiative to provide healthy, delicious and high-quality tuna products to their consumers.

Nothing added

This product is a safe and healthy option to take care of your health and diet, as it offers a high level of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are benefitial for cholesterol control, as well as minerals and vitamins such as phosphorus and folic acid.

Gear Matters!

This Frinsa product has been caught pole-and-line: one pole, one line, one fish at a time. This technique is an active type of fishing that is considered the most selective and respectful way to fish. This has been practised by artisanal fishers for centuries and works in harmony with the ocean environment, ensuring little bycatch, lost gear, or overfishing.

What's in a name?

The scientific name for this tuna is Thunnus alalunga, either white or albacore tuna. This fish belongs to the Scombridae family and has an average size, ranging between 50 and 80cm. It is characterized by having a dark blue upper back and silver body with long fins, reason why it is also called "longfinned tuna", as well as for its succulent texture and juicy meat.

Pole-and-line

This fishing method provides the most selective targeting of tuna possible, with minimal bycatch of non-target fish and marine wildlife like dolphins, turtles and sharks. Pole-and-line fishing targets schools of tuna near the ocean surface, and therefore only needs to use short lengths of line on each pole, typically  5-10m.
