Sirena is an Australian brand of canned premium chunk style tuna and ready to eat  snacks and meals, which began as a passion for good food and a desire to share great tasting food with the community. After immigrating to Australia in 1949, Carlo Valmorbida and his family embarked on a project to bring Italy's best loved foods to Australia. Since 1956 Sirena has crafted its reputation as a great tasting, premium quality tuna with its iconic mermaid logo and yellow tin. Sirena tuna is 100% sustainably caught using the traditional pole and line method. With full traceability they only source ingredients from reputable suppliers who are contractually obliged to comply with their ethical sourcing policy.

Sirena ensures that all suppliers comply with labour laws of the country in which that supplier operates and that these laws are equitable.

No nets. One fish at a time.

Pole and line is a traditional fishing method that relies on individual fishers using hand-held poles. Pole and line fishing is highly selective, meaning that other marine animals are rarely caught, and if they do become caught can be returned to the ocean unharmed.

All Sirena canned tuna can be bought in a wide variety of flavours including: Classic Italian Style in Olive Oil, Chilli Oil, Garlic Infused, Chunky Tomato and Basil, Lemon & Pepper and Soy & Ginger (to name but a few). All can be used to enhance the flavours of a meal, or eaten as a nutritious and delicious snack!

Sirena also has a range of Ready to Eat meals that are nutritious and deliciously convenient for any time of the day. Made with wholesome, quality ingredients they hit the spot!

Italian Inspired, Australian Born

Sirena tuna was born in 1956 when a young migrant family crafted a product that perfectly embodied the fusion of traditional Italian taste with premium produce.

Guided by Quality

From the purchase of the largest fishing boat in Australia in 1970, to 100% pole and line fishing across the world today, Sirena has been guided by the same values and passion that started it all. It continues to find sustainable ways to deliver the same honest flavours and signature tuna chunks to its growing national and international markets.

Going Global

Sirena now has manufacturing facilities in both Thailand and Indonesia. They are able to provide the safest and highest quality standards, all our products are only manufactured at world-class production facilities. These facilities are accredited and audited to the ISO and BRC global standard. Sirena's owners themselves were originally involved in the selection of these facilities and continue to personally visit and check to this day.

Sirena Tuna never compromises in Quality. It is made with only the highest quality ingredients, including our chunk tuna, premium oil blends and all natural ingredients. Our commitment to sustainability is paramount to our business: 100% of our tuna is pole and line caught. Pole and line is the most sustainable catching method presently available and means catching fish by hand, one at a time.

Company Policies and Reports

Sirena Tuna are committed to only sourcing tuna that has been caught by pole-and-line methods. This is due to the pole-and-line method being highly selective, with little bycatch, plastic pollution, or overfishing.

They are committed to supplying tuna that is fully traceable through traceability processes, ensuring that the fish you eat has not been caught on illegal or unsafe vessels. They are 100% transparent on the source of fish used across their product range.

Fisheries Improvement Toolbox (FIT) Engagement

In 2010, Sirena made the public commitment to source 100% of tuna through pole-and-line suppliers, a target reached in 2015. Pole-and-line is a type of one-by-one fishing, which is the most sustainable way of sourcing tuna. It is an active form of fishing, where the fishers are actively engaged in what they are catching, meaning little bycatch, lost gear, or overfishing.

Sirena's commitment to sustainable sourcing continued with their 2013 partnership with the International Pole and Line Foundation. By partnering and collaborating with fishing industry organisations and research bodies, Sirena committed to the global effort of championing one-by-one and sustainable fisheries and their supply chains.
