Cyprea Marine Foods Pvt. Ltd. (CMF) is a business initiative established by Cyprea Pvt. Ltd. to contribute to the traditional lifestyles and livelihoods in the atolls of the Maldivian archipelago that span across the equator. CMF owns and operates CMF Fish Processing Factory on the island of Himmafushi in Kaafu Atoll, Maldives.
The company had focused mainly on Fresh Chilled Yellowfin Tuna and Frozen Yellowfin Tuna products in its initial years of operation. In the year 2020, CMF was able to progress by exploring new avenues with the diversification in terms of production by enhancing the freezing capacity which opened up the opportunity to produce Frozen Skipjack Tuna Whole Round with a high value addition to the European markets directly while other Maldivian producers were highly committed to Asian markets been reluctant to cater to the EU market due to the high risks of histamine and other food safety standard requirements. CMF is currently catering to EU, American and Asian markets. As the processor and exporter, CMF ensure the highest quality in products to meet the customer requirements.
The tuna products harvested and processed are marketed based on the sustainability aspect of the fishery where food safety and traceability is maintained at the highest level under the food safety management system.

The traditional live bait pole and line fishing targets only surface schooling tuna taken individually without harming other marine life associated with it. This time-honored method has been practiced in Maldives for hundreds of years.

POLE AND LINE TUNA FISHING - A CULTURE AND A LIVELIHOOD.
Globally, fisheries are threatened due to unsustainable methods of fishing. Excessive by-catch, harvest of juveniles, habitat destruction, over-fishing and illegal fishing are the primary causes of decline in marine production.
CMF process tuna harvested only on hand line and pole and line caught under the IUU compliance from vessels which are registered and licensed in Maldives.
COMPLIANCE AND CERTIFICATION
CMF Fish Processing Factory is in compliance with EU food safety standards and is EU certified under MDV 006 for the processing of scombroid fishes harvested under FAO 51. In addition the facility complies with HACCP, GMP and does comply with the international food safety management system ISO 22000 which has been upgraded to the new version FSSC 22000. The other certifications in the harvesting and food safety are, BRC - British Retail Consortium (A grade certification), USFDA registration, Dolphin safe , MSC chain of custody for pole and line caught skipjack tuna , Friend of the Sea, Sedex membership and IPNL membership.

CMF Fish Processing Factory, is an EU licensed processing plant in the Maldives which specialize in the export of fresh yellowfin tuna and reef fish to the USA, Asia, and EU countries. The fact that our products are targeted to large buyers from the USA, Asia, and EU places particular emphasis upon consistent quality and food safety. This is achievable by employing personnel with the requisite experience, expertise and capability.
The management of CMF fish are committed to take practical steps to comply with the legislation & customer requirements. We have adopted the policy of only safe, legal and specified products which can be traced to its origin, and has requisite quality to merit customer satisfaction throughout its shelf-life. All reasonable precautions are implemented and all due diligence exercised to avoid commission of an offence against the Food Safety Act by any member of our team.
